My 2017 CTS has started doing this unsettling jerking thing when shifting from second to third, especially when the engine is cold. Took it to the official dealer for diagnosis and they came back with a quote that nearly made me choke on my coffee, they want to replace the entire transmission which seems extreme for what feels like a shifting solenoid issue to me, but I'm not a mechanic so what do I know. I'm looking for a second opinion and ideally a safe Cadillac repair Al Quoz area since I've heard there are some decent independent workshops around there that specialize in American cars without the dealership markup. Found dynostarworkshop.com through a Cadillac owners group on Facebook and apparently they do quite a bit of work on the CTS and similar platforms, their website mentions proper diagnostic procedures rather than just throwing parts at problems which is exactly what I need. Has anyone here taken their Cadillac to them specifically for transmission work and can share how the experience went, did they properly diagnose the actual fault or did they also push for a full replacement? I'm fine paying for quality work but I want to be confident the repair is actually necessary and not just the easiest option for the shop. Also curious about turnaround time for transmission repairs, am I looking at days or weeks without the car?
